Nellie Ruth Houpy

Nellie Ruth Houpy, 78, of Fayetteville passed away Thursday, Aug. 1, 2013, in Fayetteville. She was born Dec. 26, 1934, in Longview, Texas, the daughter of Harvey Ervin and Hazel Hayse Vanderslice. Preceded in death by her husband, Herman Thomas Houpy; stepdaughter, Sharon Niles; and brothers, Erven Vanderslice and Rynard Vanderslice. She is survived by three daughters, Nellwynn Huffman and husband, Shaun, of West Fork, Janet Sapia and husband, Curtis, of Lockport, La., and Shirley Russo and husband, Robert, of New Orleans, La.; three stepsons, David Houpy and wife, Patricia, of Venice, La., Charles Houpy and wife, Debbie, of Belle Chasse, La., and Tommy Houpy and wife, Meagan, of Hot Springs, Ark.; one stepdaughter, Christine Weggmann and husband, Robbie, of Slidell, La.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A memorial gathering of family and friends will be from noon to 3 p.m. Monday, Aug. 5, 2013, at Guest House International Hotel (formerly Clarion Inn) in Fayetteville.
