Billy Franklin Bertschy
Billy Franklin Bertschy, 81, of Springdale, died Saturday, April 27, 2013, at Northwest Medical Center in Springdale. He was born June 10, 1931, in Bentonville to Carson Franklin and Elsie Vivian Howard Bertschy.
Billy served in the Army and was stationed in Germany during the Korean War. He was a retired store manager with Kinney Shoes. He enjoyed bluegrass music, traveling, working in the outdoors and spending time with his grand and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Alan Dale Bertschy, in 2010, and a brother, Jack Bertschy.
He is survived by his wife, Velta (Kaundart) Bertschy, whom he married Jan. 22, 1951 in Fort Smith; a daughter, Shanna Crum and husband, Rick; two grandsons, Alan Ramsey and wife, Amanda, and Robbie Dale Bertschy; two great-granddaughters, Ella and Lindley Ramsey, all of Springdale; a brother, Eugene Cox of Jane, Mo.; and two sisters-in-law, Ruth Bertschy of Seattle, Wash., Ruth Kaundart of Fort Smith.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 1, at Heritage Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be at Bluff Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
