Leon Clinton, 86, of the Rock Community near Clifty, Ark., died April 25, 2013, at his home. He was born July 3, 1926, at Clarksville, Ark., the son of George Robert and Bessie Merle Cheek Clinton. He served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1946. In 1951 he began working for the Arkansas State Police, retiring in 1978. After retiring he enjoyed working at his sawmill and raising cattle on his farm. Leon enjoyed family gatherings and telling stories to his many friends. On Dec. 20, 1956, he married Ova Lea Oxford and they enjoyed 56 happy years together. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Ruby White. Survivors include: his wife, Ova Lea of the home; one nephew, Larry Prescott and wife, Gaye of Fayetteville, Ark.; cousins, Anna Lea Locklin and husband Joe of Rogers, Ark., Bobby Williams and wife Diane of Little Rock, Ark., and a host of friends. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 30, in the chapel of Brashears Funeral Home with the Rev. Loren Collins officiating. Interment will be in the Rambo Cemetery under the direction of Brashears Funeral Home www.brashearsfuneralhome.net of Huntsville, Ark. Pallbearers will be: Eric Oxford, Jason Oxford, Charlie Oxford, Doyle Lee Sherry, Virgil Bohlen and Keith Ferguson. Honorary pallbearer will be: Billy Sharp, Larry Burkes, Lee Lastovica, John Stansell, Benny Leftwich, Larry Hawkins, Charlie Brooks and Winford Phillips. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
