Leo James Gieselman

Leo J. Gieselman was born Aug. 10, 1931, in Dundee, Minn., to Anton and Emma (Schad) Gieselman. He grew up in Dundee, Minn., and then moved to Iona, Minn., and received his education there. He was drafted into the Army and served in the Korean War for two years from 1952 until 1954. After the service, he moved to Slayton, Minn., with his mother Emma. He lived there and cared for her for 25 years. Leo worked at the Toggery Cleaners in Slayton for 30 years. He moved to Rogers, Ark., in 1989 to be by his nephews, Roger, Dale and Ray. He worked for Harp's in Rogers until his retirement. Leo was an avid bowler for many years, enjoyed fishing, watching the Minnesota Twins baseball and the Minnesota Vikings football. Leo was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Rogers, Ark. He was a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus and he was a 4th Degree Knight. After a short battle with cancer, Leo passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2013. He is survived by one brother, Louis Gieselman and his wife, Clarice, of Avoca, Minn.; and many other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, one sister and two nephews. There will be a private family service. Inurnment will be at Rogers Cemetery. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Memorials may be sent to Washington Regional Hospice in Fayetteville. Arrangements by Epting Funeral Home of Bentonville.
