Lonnie Lee Oxford Sr.

Mr. Lonnie Lee Oxford Sr., 60, of Gravette, Ark., departed this life on Friday, April 12, 2013, at the Northwest Medical Center in Bentonville, Ark., following a sudden illness. Lonnie entered this life on May 30, 1952, in Rogers, Ark., to the late Lemuel Anthony and Juanita Mae (Secrest) Oxford. He married Lana Abercrombie on Aug. 6, 1972, at Gravette, Ark. Lonnie worked for Kennametal Industries for over 30 years before retiring. He enjoyed spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. He was a friend to anyone who knew him and would do anything to help anyone at the drop of a hat. Lonnie will be extremely missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Clara Elliott. Lonnie is survived by his wife of 39 years, Lana Louise Oxford of the home; two sons, Butch Oxford and Carl Oxford, a daughter, Tamara Stewart, all of Gravette, Ark.; seven grandchildren; a brother, Buck Oxford and wife, Pat, of Goodman, Mo.; two sisters, Betty Stewart and husband, Dewell, of Gravette, Ark., Mae Sutherland and husband, Clyde, of Jane, Mo.; a brother-in-law, Slim Elliott of Sulphur Springs, Ark.; several nieces, nephews and a ton of friends who will dearly miss Lonnie and his great sense of humor. Graveside funeral services for Lonnie Oxford will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 18, 2013, at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Gravette, Ark. Pastor Jonas Edgmon will officiate. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 17, 2013, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Noel Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes.
