Charlie Bain

Charlie Bain of Rogers, Ark., passed away April 8, 2013. He lived in Chanute, Kan., over 70 years. He was born in Miami, Okla., Dec. 8, 1917, to Delbert R. and Lulu H. Niles Bain. Earl, Daniel, Frank, Ruth, Opal, Ruby and Lucille were his siblings. He is survived by his wife, Emma J. (Nita) Muninger, whom he married in 1935. Other survivors include son, Charles Thomas and wife, Carolyn Sue Elam Bain; granddaughter. Charlie attended public schools in Lanagan and Pineville, Mo. He loved the rural life of the Ozarks and continued to pursue that lifestyle most of his life. He moved to Chanute, Kan., in the 1930s, where he worked with his brother, Earl, at Bain's Bakery. After Earl retired, Charlie operated the bakery until it closed in 1969. Charlie also worked as a carpenter and a cabinet maker, building and remodeling many houses in Chanute. He particularly liked cabinet making and growing strawberries. He enjoyed working with people and maintained a positive attitude. He always had a dog as his companion. Arrangements are under the care of Rollins Funeral Home in Rogers, Ark. A private family service will be held at a later date.
