Sherman Bowen

Sherman Bowen, 92, of Springdale died Thursday, Sept. 27, 2012, in Springdale. He was born March 18, 1920, in Spring Valley to Jay Charles and Dealia Harp Bowen. Sherman was a member of Phillips Chapel Freewill Baptist Church. He owned and operated Bowen Trucking. He was a member of the American Quarter Horse and Paint Horse associations. He was preceded in death by one son, Joseph Sherman Bowen; and one daughter, Joy Eileen Grigg. He is survived by his wife, Laveda Bowen of the home, to whom he was married Sept. 6, 1939; one son, Dennis Allen Bowen of Kansas, Okla.; two daughters, Shirley Craig of Las Vegas, Nev., and Linda Parsons of Gentry; two sisters, Lydia Joyner of Springdale and Lena Hamilton of Rogers; 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012, at 10 a.m. at Friendship Cemetery in Springdale, with the Rev. Bill Williams officiating. No visitation is planned.
