John Henry Leverenz

John Henry Leverenz was born on May 19, 1934, in Canby, Minn., the son of the late Henry and Myrtle Leverenz, and passed away on Sept. 4, 2012. Prior to retirement, he had a successful career working as a civil engineer with Rock Road Construction Company and other construction and consulting companies. Some of the projects John had worked on included construction of runways at O'Hare Airport, the Woodfield Shopping Mall (Chicago) and Route 53 Expressway. John was also consulting engineer during the construction of the Tulsa, Okla., Airport. John had been district engineer for the state of Kansas and was named the Government Official of the Year by the American Concrete Pavement Association in 2000. He is survived by his sons, Brian (Faye Seeman) and Brad (Risa); daughter, Kim; and grandson, Cully J. Leverenz. He was preceded in death by a son, Terry Leverenz. A memorial service will be held at the Presbyterian Church of Bella Vista at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 4. The Revs. Laura Fleetwood and Dennis Ritchie will officiate.
