Jesse Calvin Walden

Jesse Calvin Walden, age 92, of Springdale, died Sept. 6, 2012, in Springdale. He was born July 18, 1920, in Aberdeen, Miss., the son of Joe and Belle Walden. He was a foreman for Certified Grocery Company and retired after 30 years of service. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Walden was proficient at playing bluegrass music both on the guitar and the mandolin. He was preceded by his wife, Rena Walden, in 2009. Mr. Walden is survived by three sons, Joe Walden, Mic Walden and Danny Walden, all of Springdale; three daughters, Janet Tackett of Springdale, Doris Barnett and her husband, Tom, of Springdale; and Kathy Lane and her husband, Ron, of Hindsville; 17 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and several brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be Monday, Sept. 10, 2012, at 1 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Friendship Cemetery under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be on Monday from 11 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be: Joe Walden, Mic Walden, Julius Kearney, Roger Johnson, Devin Byrd and Wayne Watson.
