Bennie James Harris

Bennie James Harris, 82, of Fayetteville died Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2012, in Fayetteville. He was born July 29, 1930, in Elkins, the son of Bryan and Pearl Long Harris. He worked for Saint Louis County Police Department, retired from the University of Arkansas, retired from Sears and also retired from Big 8 Tire. He was a member of the Baldwin Baptist Church. Preceded in death by his son, Gary Harris; granddaughter, Danielle Nichole Harris; three sisters; and one brother. Survivors include his wife, Thelma Oxford Harris of Fayetteville, to whom he was married for 55 years; daughter, Sherry Carroll of Springdale; granddaughters, Stephanie Mounce and husband, Jeremy of Springdale and Katy Carroll of Springdale; and two great-grandsons, Cooper Mounce and Peyton Murray. Funeral Services will be 2 p.m., Monday, Sept. 10, 2012, at Beard's Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Don Warford officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Memorial Gardens.
