The family and friends of David Swanson mourn his sudden passing on Sept. 4, 2012. David was an incredible father, husband, friend and architect. He was born June 18, 1948, to Patricia and Robert Swanson, in Davenport, Neb. In 1968, David joined the United States Air Force, where he served for four years in the Vietnam War as well as Turkey, Thailand and Japan. David returned to the states to attend the University of Nebraska and received his master's degree in architecture in 1976. David married his wife, Celia, in December 1975. In Omaha, Neb. and Denver, Colo., David became one of the leading architects in hospital design. In June 1993, David embarked on the most important job of his life. He became father to his wonderful daughter, Kyndall. The family moved to Bentonville, Ark., in 1994 and David took on the title of "Mr. Mom" of which he was a pioneer. Over the last 12 years, David has owned and managed The Stable at LaDena Downs, the equestrian facility he designed and built, that now boards over 40 horses and provides a state-of-the-art equestrian arena for lessons and competitions. David loved the outdoors and poured much of himself into this facility. What must not be overlooked is David's generosity and compassion for all animals. He strived to create beauty and harmony in all his designs, and that creativity will be greatly missed. David was preceded in death by his father, Robert Swanson; and his sister, Connie Stych. He is survived by his mother, Pat Swanson; his wife, Celia Swanson; his daughter, Kyndall Swanson; his brother, Larry (Pam) Swanson; and sister, Robin (Ed) Skinner, Baze and Sophie; and a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A Celebration Gathering for close friends and relatives, will be held Friday, Sept. 7 at 6 p.m. at The Stables at LaDena Downs. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 8 at Fellowship Bible Church in Rogers, Ark., with Lamar Steiger officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to NWA Hunter Jumper Association, N.W.A.H.J.A, P. O. Box 2494, Bentonville, AR 72712. Graveside services will be held Monday, Sept. 10, 2012, in Edgar, Neb.
