Arlen Dee Poole

Arlen Dee Poole, 72, of Fayetteville, Ark., passed away Monday, Sept. 3, 2012, in Fayetteville. He was born July 16, 1940, in Fayetteville to Russell D. Poole and Clara Frances (Hess) Poole. He was a retired geophysicist for Exxon and Phillips Petroleum. He was an active member of the Rotary Club of Fayetteville, the Heritage Trail Partners, Central United Methodist Church in Fayetteville and the Washington County Historical Society. He received a Distinguished Citizen Award from the Washington County Historical Society in 2011. He is survived by his wife, Janet Poole; mother, Clara Frances Poole of Fayetteville, Ark.; two daughters, Sarah Tu of Fremont, Calif., and husband, Daniel Tu, and Carol Cordell of Fayetteville, Ark., and husband, Brad Cordell; one brother, Hal Poole of Fayetteville, Ark.; two sisters, Judy Rowe of Prairie Grove, Ark., and Jenny Green of Fayetteville, Ark.; eight grandchildren, Hannah, Lillian, Chloe, Owen, and Joshua Tu, and Samuel, Caroline, and Baby Cordell. Memorial services will be held 2 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 6, 2012, at Central United Methodist Church in Fayetteville, with the Rev. J. Anthony Holifield officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Washington County Historical Society at 118 E. Dickson St., Fayetteville, AR 72701; or the Myeloma Institute for Research and Therapy at 4301 W. Markham, Slot 816, Little Rock, AR 72205.
