Billye Jean Bell

Billye Jean Bell, 86, of Springdale, died Thursday, Aug. 30, 2012, at the Willard Walker Hospice Home in Fayetteville. She was born Feb. 15, 1926, in Sonora to Henry Wilford and Olena Josephine Bramlett Scroggins. Billye grew up and attended school in Springdale where she was named the Springdale High School class of 1944 Football Queen and War Bond Queen. She married the love of her life, Garland Bell, in 1946 upon his return home from the Navy where he served in the South Pacific. She lived in Tulsa for many years then returned to Springdale in 1980 and worked for J.B. Hunt until retirement. She was a member of Elmdale Baptist Church, and enjoyed genealogical research that she contributed to Springdale historical records and Shiloh Museum. She also enjoyed traveling, including a visit to the Holy Lands. She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Cathie Bell; and former husband and close companion, Dudley Tadlock. She is survived by a daughter, Susan Bell of Richmond, Calif.; a sister, Martha Jo Moore of Springdale; two grandsons, David Farrell of San Francisco, Calif., Andy Farrell of Poland; and two great-grandchildren, Tobin and Alexandra. Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 4, at Elmdale Baptist Church. Burial will be at Friendship Cemetery.
