Mildred Irene Hendrix

Mildred Irene Hendrix, age 99, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 30, 2012, at Cassville Health and Rehab. Mrs. Hendrix, daughter of Isaac "Ike" Clifton and Maggie Lillis (McCormick) Henry, was born on Aug. 27, 1913, in Washburn, Mo. She grew up in the family home located on Greasy Creek, and attended Measle Prairie School and OK School. She and Buddy Ernest Hendrix were married on Aug. 28, 1930, by Charles VanZandt. Buddy preceded her in death on Nov. 18, 1996. Mildred enjoyed being in her garden until her health prevented her from continuing that. She and her family celebrated her 99th birthday on Monday, Aug. 27th. Being with her family was the most important part of her life. She was a member of the Prairie Hill Baptist Church in Washburn, Mo. Survivors include five sons, John Ernest Hendrix and his wife, Olene, of Washburn, Reams Howard Hendrix and his wife, Barbara, of Washburn, Ralph Lloyd Hendrix and his wife, Irene, of Washburn, Larry Keith Hendrix and his wife, Valerie, of Washburn, and Gary "Gizz" Max Hendrix and his wife, Carrie, of Washburn; two daughters, Betty Jean Banks and her husband, James, of Washburn, and Carolyn Sue Popanz and her husband, Jim, of Rogers, Ark.; daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Hendrix, of Washburn; 26 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three sons, Thomas Clifton Hendrix, Kenneth Lavern Hendrix and Robert Franklin Hendrix; two brothers, Reams Henry and John Henry; and one sister, Helen (Henry) Hendrix Houston. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 2 at the White Funeral Home in Cassville, with the Rev. Jerry Williams officiating. Burial will be in King Cemetery in Seligman. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 1. Mildred's grandsons and grandsons-in-law will serve as pallbearers. Memorials may be made to the Diabetes Association or the American Cancer Society and entrusted to the White Funeral Home.
