Lula Cooper

Lula Cooper, age 99, of Carthage, Mo., formerly of Springdale, Ark., died Sept. 30, 2012, at her home. She was born Sept. 4, 1913, in St. Paul, Ark., the daughter of Albert and Florance Burnett Edens. She retired from Allen Canning Company after 26 years of service. Mrs. Cooper enjoyed gardening and canning for her family, sewing, crocheting and quilting. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norvel Cooper; one son, Curtis Cooper; one grandson, Stephen Cooper; one granddaughter, Marlene Huey; one sister, Dorothy Russell; and four brothers, Kellen Edens, Boyd Edens, Chester Edens and Ervin Edens. She is survived by two daughters, Geneva Morton and her husband, Chuck, of Plano, Ill., and Verda Wallen and her husband, Dewane of Carthage, Mo.; one daughter-in-law, Jean Wilson and her husband, Loyd of Yukon, Okla.; one brother, Denver Edens of Coos Bay, Ore.; two sisters, Thelma Parker of Japton and Glenda Martin of Springdale; one sister-in-law, Tishie Edens of Lowell; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Friday, Oct. 5, 2012, at 1 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Brother Larry Branum officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in St. Paul, Ark., under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home. No visitation is scheduled. Online condolences may be sent to www.memfuneral.com.
