Kenneth Ray Martin

Kenneth Ray Martin, age 64, of Elm Springs, died Nov. 19, 2012, in Onia, Ark. He was born Aug. 24, 1948, in Marshall, Ark., the son of Logan and Ruth Williams Martin. He was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed hunting. Mr. Martin served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era in the 101st Division and was awarded many medals including two Bronze Stars and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. He retired from the Fayetteville Police Department as a lieutenant after 22 years of service and served as the chief of police for Elm Springs for eight years before retiring. He is survived by his wife, Connie West Martin of the home; one son, Damon Martin and his wife, Sara of Inwood, W.V.; one grandson, Colman Martin; and two brothers, Keith Martin of Mountain View, Ark., and Michael Martin of Onia, Ark. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Friday, Nov. 23, 2012, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Steve Sheeley officiating. Burial will follow in Elm Springs Cemetery under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 12 noon Friday, Nov. 23, 2012, at the funeral home.
