Howard H. "Hal" Savage, 80, of Rogers died Nov. 18, 2012. He was born Jan. 26, 1932, in San Antonio, Texas, to the late M.T. and Myra (Struble) Savage of McAlester, Okla., where he grew up. Hal graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1953, with a degree in chemical engineering. Hal was a member of Beta Theta Pi Fraternity and Tau Beta Pi, Engineering Honor Society. He served as 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Army at Pine Bluff Arsenal during the Korean conflict. He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 60 years, Nancy (Puryear) Savage; one son, Thomas H. Savage and his wife, Margot, of Beijing, China; two daughters, Theresa K. Brue and her husband, Gregory, of Gurnee, Ill., and Susan M. Inich and her husband, Robert, of Kansas City, Kan.; one sister, Janet S. Daniel and her husband, Charles, of St. Simons Island, Ga.; and seven grandchildren, Thomas E. Savage (Misheil), Lauren S. Bloss (Michael), Michael E. Savage, Jason H. Brue (Stacy), David G. Brue, Alyssa M. Wall and Melanie K. Wall; as well as three great-grandchildren. Hal worked for Union Carbide/First Brands for 39 years in Texas City, Texas, Ottawa, Ill., Rogers, Ark., and East Hartford, Conn. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Rogers, where he served in numerous capacities over the years. He was a member of the Rogers Noon Rotary Club, where he held the position of secretary for nearly 20 years. Hal also held a seat on the Rogers Public Library Board, the Prairie Creek Property Owners Association Board and he was also a volunteer for Tax Aide. Services will be held at First Presbyterian Church in Rogers at 11 a.m. on Nov. 21, 2012, with a visitation at 10 a.m. preceding the service. Online condolences to: www.rollinsfuneral.com.
