Donald C. "Buck" Diehl, 78, died Nov. 6, 2012, at Mercy Hospital. He was born on Sept. 19, 1934, in Linden, N.J., to the late Roy E. and Helena (Kanski) Diehl. He was the loving husband of Elizabeth (Lum) Diehl for 29 years. Buck served in the U.S. Army, 82nd Airborne from 1955-57. He was on the Linden, N.J., police force before moving to Fort Lauderdale, Fla., from which he retired as Police Captain after 21 years. Upon retiring from the police force, they moved to Rogers, where he joined the Rogers School system as a Master Social Worker. He was a social worker from 1994 to 2000 when he retired. Buck loved to fish, deer hunt, and was also an avid RVer. He and his wife, Liz traveled throughout the entire US, Canadian Maritimes, as well as Europe. He also loved to run, and for years ran on Highway 12 across the bridge, but he NEVER ran a marathon. He is survived by his wife; son Edward and wife Sara Diehl; and grandson Matthew, all of Woodstock, Ga.; daughter, Missy and husband William Flynn of Sebastian, Fla.; two sisters, Peggy Wrezsniewski and Eileen Gray of Glen Hazel, Pa., and an uncle Bernard Kanski of Johnsonburg, Pa. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Mercy Hospital at www.mercy.net or to the charity of your choice. Cremation arrangements are under the care of Rollins Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 14, at Community Church of Bella Vista at 75 E.
