Richard Lee Schaan

Richard Lee Schaan, 78, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2012, at the home of his niece in Rogers, Ark., after a long battle with cancer. He had made his home in Broken Arrow, Okla. Richard was born Dec. 1, 1933, in Dubuque, Iowa, the son of Leo and Myra Schaan. Richard served in the Army during the Korean War as a paratrooper. He held numerous master's degrees and was a retired engineer from KOTV in Tulsa, Okla. He was a fourth degree black-belt in karate and a champion power-lifter. He trained other champion power-lifters during his retirement. He was Roman Catholic as well. Richard was preceded in death by his parents; and a nephew, Wade M. Lantz. He is survived by his sister, Nancy McKinney of Rogers, Ark.; two nieces, Pamela Gray of Rogers, Ark., and Lori Bolen of Fayetteville, Ark.; four great-nephews; one great-niece; one great-great-nephew; and one great-great-niece.
