Dr. Fritz H. Ehren, age 83, Clarksville, died Tuesday, October 30 2012, Johnson Regional Medical Center. Born November 5, 1928 in Mission, Texas. Son of the late Albert and Esther Ehren; 1946 Graduate of Booneville High School. 1946-1949 Army Air Force Veteran; 1953 graduate of The College Of The Ozarks. Was a standout football player earning Arkansas Intercollegiate Conference Back of the Year honors in 1952. Drafted by Los Angeles Rams; 1954-1958 Admissions Counselor, Assistant Football Coach and Head Baseball Coach at College of the Ozarks. Employed by Clarksville Eureka Brick Company. Football coach and principal at Springdale Arkansas High School. Academic Dean at Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana. University of The Ozarks Academic Dean and Vice President for Academic Affairs University of Central Arkansas Dean of College of Fine and Applied Arts, 1981-1990 22nd President of the University of the Ozarks. A dedicated member of the First Presbyterian Church. He served as an Elder, taught Men's Sunday School Class and a member of many committees. A civic-minded citizen serving on Hospital Board, Air Port Commission, Rotary Club, Lions Club, Light and Water Commission. He was an avid pilot with a small engine rating. Preceded in death by his brother, Robert and wife Sue Ehren. Survivors include, his wife of 62 years, Juanita Blackard Ehren, two brothers, Ralph (Betty) Ehren, McKinney, Texas, Norman (Jayne) Ehren, Goodyear, Ariz., one sister, Marie (Herbert) Peek, Memphis, Tenn. Memorial service 11 a.m., Friday, November 2, at Clarksville First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. Robert Lowry officiating. Burial: Oakland Cemetery.
