Silas "Si" Dale Snow

Silas "Si" Dale Snow, passed away on Sunday, June 17, 2012 at Alexandria Hospital in Alexandria, Va. at the age of 72 after a long struggle with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia. Si is survived by his long-time partner, Carl Jackson of Alexandria, Va; a sister, Sue Cooper of Little Rock, Ark.; nephews, Todd Cooper (Lisa) of Little Rock, Ark., Dr. Scotty Cooper (Cynthia) of Rogers, Ark. and niece Kristin Maris (Lee) of Little Rock, Ark. and six grandnephews and nieces. His parents, Silas D. and Mary Titus Snow preceded him in death. After consistently graduating with honors from Conway High School in Conway, Ark.: SMU in Dallas, Texas where he was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa; and UC-Berkley in Berkley, Calif. with a MBA in Economics; Si had a long career with IBM before enjoying several years of active retirement. His career with IBM included systems engineering and IBM education, where he conducted classes throughout the U.S. and in many foreign venues. Si served his country as a Lieutenant in the Air Force Reserves and his community through volunteer work and his active involvement in political causes. He particularly enjoyed his volunteer work with the Library of Congress where he was a docent for many years and the Signature Theater in Arlington, Va. Throughout life he engaged in learning more about history, religion, architecture, art, and varied cultures by exercising a passion for travel and was able to see most of the world. Visitation will be at the Everly-Wheatly Funeral Home, 1500 West Braddock Road in Alexandria on Thursday, June 21st from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at the same facility on Friday, June 22 at 2 p.m.
