Jewel Carmody

Jewel Carmody, 88, of Centerton, Ark., died Thursday, June 14, 2012, at her home. She was born Jan. 5, 1924, in St. Louis, Mo., to Louis Glaser and Edith "Barnhart" Glaser. She was raised in Missouri and later lived in southern California, Oregon and Arkansas. She was an artist and enjoyed baking and sharing her creations with her friends. Jewel was also active in the community. Her life was being a mother, sister, aunt, friend or neighbor. Her sign-off was "Busy Fingers For You." She was a member of The Artist Guild and First Baptist Church of Centerton. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband Dewey Carmody; granddaughter, Monica; sisters, Jean Hedrick, Dorothy Landwehr; and niece, Connie Thompson. Jewel is survived by two sons, Dewey "Corky" Carmody Jr. and wife Sheri of Evans, Wash.; James Louis Scheidle and wife Frieda White of Rogers, Ark.; four daughters, Carolyn Tobin and husband Tim of Bothel, Wash., Loretta Ann Pinkerton and her husband John, of Hemet, Calif., Charlotte Gregg of San Marcos, Calif., and Barbara Gallego of Seattle, Wash.; one brother, Charles "Chuck" Glaser and wife Dorothy of Bella Vista, Ark.; 17 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, June 18, 2012, at 11:30 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Centerton, 351 West Centerton Blvd., Centerton, Arkansas 72719. Pastor Bob Metcalf will officiate. She will be interred in the Centerton Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Bella Vista Funeral Home & Crematory, 2258 Forest Hills Blvd., Bella Vista, Ark.
