Angelo Joseph "Joe" Magnini, Jr.

Angelo Joseph "Joe" Magnini, Jr., 62, died June 5, 2012 with his family by his side in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. He was born February 12, 1950 in Pine Bluff, to the late Angelo Joseph Magnini, Sr. and Helen Aureli Magnini. He graduated from Pine Bluff High School in 1968 and attended the University of Arkansas at Monticello where he was a member of Phi Lambda Chi fraternity. He was a member of the Arkansas Army National Guard from 1972 – 2004. He served in Iraq from 2003-2004. He worked for AP&L/Entergy, in Pine Bluff, from 1973-1998 as a lineman and customer service representative. From 1998-present he worked at South Central Arkansas Electric Cooperative, in Arkadelphia, where he was a Member Services Representative and Safety Coordinator. Joe was an avid supporter of youth sports in Pine Bluff coaching basketball, soccer, and baseball. He served on the board of directors at Seabrook YMCA, now Seabrook Family Christian Center. He was voted Layman of the Year while a member of Kiwanis in Pine Bluff. He was a Red Coat in the Pine Bluff Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of Rotary in Arkadelphia, where he was recently named a Paul Harris Fellow. Also, he was a member of the Clark County Home Builders Association and Clark County Cattleman's Association. Joe was chosen as an Outstanding Young Man of America in 1984. He received the South Central Arkansas Electric Cooperative Spirit Award. While a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Pine Bluff, he was a member of the Parish Council and served as Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus. He and his family received the Knights of Columbus Family of the Year Award and he was chosen Knight of the Year. He was also a Catholic Youth Ministries sponsor. At St. Mary's Catholic Church in Arkadelphia, Joe served as Parish Council President and Finance Committee Chairman. His greatest pleasure was spending time with his family. He was survived by his wife of 37 years, Betty Ellen Singleton Magnini; daughter, Angela Maria Magnini Neece of Little Rock, her husband Patrick, and their children, A.J. and Alex; son, Angelo Joseph "Joey" Magnini, III of Berryville, his wife Erin, and "Baby" Magnini; and sister, JoAnne Magnini Brasch of North Little Rock and her husband, Ken. Joe's life would seem too short to many, but those who were touched by him understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. As stated in a resolution from the South Central Arkansas Electric Cooperative's Board of Directors presented to Joe on June 1, 2012, many "have benefitted significantly from his good humor, positive attitude, service to others, and valuable insight." A Vigil service will be 6 p.m., Friday, June 8, 2012 at Ralph Robinson & Son in Pine Bluff with visitation following from 6:30-8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m., Saturday, June 9, 2012 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pine Bluff with Father Andy Smith officiating. Burial with military honors will be Monday, June 11, 2012 at Noon at Arkansas State Veteran's Cemetery in North Little Rock with Deacon Noel "Bud" Bryant officiating.
