Ruth 'Carolyn' Hill Golding

Ruth "Carolyn" Hill Golding died peacefully July 8, 2012, at the Virtua Hospital in Berlin, N.J., after a struggle with ALS (Lou Gehrig's) disease. Born June 24, 1941, in Washington County, Fayetteville City Hospital, Fayetteville, Ark. Carolyn attended Washington Grade School and Fayetteville High School. Carolyn also attended and graduated from the University of Arkansas with a bachelor of arts in mathematics. She received a master's degree from Temple University in Philadelphia, Pa. Carolyn taught mathematics in the Rogers and Fayetteville school systems in Northwest Arkansas. She then married and moved to the Cherry Hill and Collingswood areas in New Jersey. In New Jersey, Carolyn taught at the Heritage Junior High School, where she also coached softball. After about 15 years, Carolyn transferred to the Cherry Hill East School System. Carolyn enjoyed playing tennis and traveling and will be missed by her friends. Carolyn was the beloved wife of the late Robert Golding. She is survived by her brother, Ivan Lee Hill and niece, Charlotte Ann Hill, of Richardson, Texas; stepchildren, Anne Golding Lewis and Bill H. Golding; step-grandchildren are Joshua, Jacob, Riley and Erin. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation Sunday, July 29, 2012, at noon at the Blake-Doyle Funeral Home, 226 Collings Ave., Collingswood, N.J. Memorial service at 1:30 p.m. Memorial donations may be made in Carolyn's name to the ALS Association, Greater Philadelphia Chapter, 321 Norristown Road, Suite 260, Ambler PA 19002.
