George Paul DeGroot, 79, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Tuesday, July 17, 2012, at his home in Bella Vista. He was born on April 14, 1933, in Green Bay, Wis., to George and Toni DeGroot. He served in the U.S. Army. He was past president of the Optimist Club and United Way in Wisconsin and a lifetime Green Bay Packer fan. He was a Bella Vista POA board member, Rotary member and Cancer Challenge volunteer. He is survived by his wife, Louise DeGroot; daughters, Mary Howerton Borden, her husband, Windell, of Michie, Tenn., Amy Forsberg, her husband, Robert, of Altoona, Wis., Cathy Polzin, her husband, Dr. Paul, of Denmark, Wis.; stepson, Jack Doyle, his wife, Julie, of DeForest, Wis.; stepdaughter, Jodi Doyle Mitchell, her husband, Randy, of Stockton, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. The rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. with Mass of the Resurrection at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 26, 2012, at St. Bernard Catholic Church, One St. Bernard Lane, Bella Vista, Ark., with Father Barnabas Maria-Susai officiating. Arrangements are by the Bella Vista Funeral Home & Crematory, 2258 Forest Hills Blvd., Bella Vista, Ark. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the following: Sunrise Morning Rotary Club of Bella Vista, Bella Vista Library or to the Circle of Life Hospice.
