John Russell Eastin, age 87, of Rogers, passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2012, at the Circle of Life Legacy Village Hospice in Bentonville. John was born in Kansas City, Mo., on Aug. 24, 1924, to John Robert and Pearle Anna (Thompson) Eastin. John served his country in the United States Navy during WWII and retired from the Navy and was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He also retired from Champlin Petroleum as a map-maker in the oil industry. John was a member of the Rogers Christian Church and he enjoyed boating, talking and visiting with people, dancing, bowling, and spending time with his friends and family. Preceded in death by his loving companion, Peggy Williams in 2010; his parents; two sons, John Robert Eastin and Rick Penner; one daughter, Anna Marie Hopper; John is survived by three sons, Cameron Eastin and wife, Dee, of Holt, Mich., Gary Piper and wife, Chrysanthemum, of Santa Rosa, Calif., Mark Piper of Long Beach, Calif.; four daughters, Gail Funk and husband, Howard, of Lawrence, Kan., Cathy Day and husband, Edward, of Upland, Calif., Jana Hamilton and husband, Skip, of Long Beach, Calif., Susie Eastin of Lakewood, Calif.; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Thursday, July 19, 2012, at Benton County Memorial Park's Funeral Home Chapel (3800 W. Walnut) in Rogers. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, July 20, 2012, at Benton County Memorial Park's Funeral Home Chapel in Rogers. Interment will follow at Benton County Memorial Park in Rogers with Naval funeral honors. Online tributes to the family may be made at www.bentoncountymemorialpark.com.
