Clara "Claire" E. Croft was born and raised in Omaha Neb., the third of four daughters born to Alice and George Gaebel. She married Kenneth R. Croft on April 18, 1953. Susan (Hartley) was born in 1954, followed by Pat (Christiansen) in 1956 and Karen (Prescott) in 1961. Claire worked for several years cooking for the school system in Bloomington, Minn. Claire loved to cook and sew and work on craft projects. The family moved many times over the years because of Ken's work career at Northern Natural Gas Company and Claire took it in her stride. Ken and Claire retired in Bella Vista, Ark., where Claire was a member of the Bella Vista Women's Chorus. She enjoyed the annual craft fairs in the area and traveled extensively around the country. She also enjoyed time spent with her grandchildren. Unfortunately, Alzheimer's disease eventually robbed Claire of her enjoyment of life and made the last few years a long difficult journey. Her family is at peace knowing Claire is finally at rest. A private memorial service will be held later in the year. Arrangements are by Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home, Springfield, Mo. Memorial donations can be made to SAAF, the low-cost/high-volume spay and neuter clinic in Springfield, Mo., at 1600 N. Washington, Springfield, MO 65803. A special thanks goes to Claire's caregivers, Janet, Janice and Preferred Hospice of Ozark, Mo.
