Jim L. Garrett

Jim L. Garrett, 74, of Springdale, Ark., went to be with his Lord on Friday, July 6, 2012, at the Northwest Medical Center in Springdale. Jim was born on April 24, 1938, in the Brush Creek Community, Ark., a son of Arkley Garrett Sr. and Myrtle Reed Garrett. He married Nellie Long on May 15, 1957, in Pennsylvania. Jim worked for 20 years for the Tyson Co. at their feed mill working his way up to foreman. He was a member of the Ray of Hope Community Church at Nob Hill, enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. This is not an end to his life but a new beginning, one day with us he'll share. He leaves behind for a short time his wife of 55 years, Nellie "Packy" Garrett of the home; three sons, Edward, Jimmy and David Garrett, all of Springdale; two daughters, Kathy Greenlee of Rogers, Ark., and Betty Olsen of Johnson, Ark.; an adopted daughter, Yvonne Hutchins of Springdale; one brother, Arkley C Garrett Jr of Farmington; one sister, Betty Carlton of Tacoma, Wash.; seven grandchildren; one adopted grandson and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers. A visitation will be held at the Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 10, 2012, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Funeral service will be held at the Backstrom-Pyeatte Chapel on Tuesday, July 7, 2012, at 11 a.m. with Brother Jerry Henshaw and Brother Howard Garrett presiding.
