Dennis K. Berk

Dennis K. Berk passed away Sunday, July 1, 2012, at the Circle of Life Hospice in Bentonville, Ark. Services for Dennis will be held on Sunday, July 8, 2012, at 2 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church in Bella Vista, Ark. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. Dennis was born to Jason and Fern (Roberts) Berk in Rockford, Iowa, on July 8, 1936. His family moved to the Hampton, Iowa, area where they farmed southwest of town. After graduating from high school, he attended Iowa State University. He was united in marriage to Lynda Wright in Des Moines, Iowa, on June 4, 1961. In the mid-1960s, he and his father started a construction company, which he operated until the late 1980s; however, he continued contracting until his retirement. Dennis and his wife Lynda retired to Bella Vista, Ark., where they could be near their children. He enjoyed recreational activities like fishing, hunting and golfing. Dennis is survived by his wife of 51 years, Lynda Berk of Bella Vista, Ark.; two sons, Dennis (Laurie) Berk in Bentonville, Ark., and Eric Berk in Bella Vista, Ark.; one brother, Doug (Mary) Berk in Glendale, Ariz.; two sisters, Mary (Bill) Phelon in Orinda, Calif., and Phyllis (Gene) Carse in Fort Dodge, Iowa; five grandchildren, David, Michael, Evan, Brittany and Paige Berk; and one great-grandchild, Janice Berk. His parents, Jason and Fern in Hampton, Iowa, and two brothers preceded him in death, John Berk in Hampton, Iowa, and Jim Berk in Denver, Colo.
