Robert Eugene Upperman

Robert Eugene Upperman, 56, of Bentonville passed away Sunday, Dec. 23, 2012, at Northwest Medical Center in Bentonville. He was born Aug. 12, 1956, in Springhill, La., to Carl Upperman and Birty Faye Moore Upperman. He graduated in 1975 from Springhill High School, Springhill, La., and received a degree in recreation and community services from Southern Arkansas University in 1980. While at SAU, Robert played on the SAU Mulerider baseball team for four years. Upon graduation from Southern Arkansas University, Robert went to work for United Gas Pipeline in Nacogdoches, Texas. His job moved him to Natchitoches, La., and Carthage, Texas. In 1990, Robert went to work in Dallas, Texas, for Lone Star Gas. He later went to work for Oklahoma Municipal Power Authority in Edmond, Okla., and was currently employed by Wal-Mart Stores Inc. as a cable technician. Robert coached little league baseball in Natchitoches, La., and Garland, Texas, and was an avid golfer. According to his wishes, Robert was an organ donor, thus continuing his legacy of helping others. He was preceded in death by his parents. Robert is survived by his wife of 32 years, Dorothy Camp Upperman; one son, Daniel Upperman of Denton, Texas; two brothers, Rickey Lewis and wife, Gay, of Gladewater, Texas, Doug Upperman and wife, Teidi, of Patterson, La.; father and mother-in-law, Jerry and Sally Camp of Bella Vista, Ark.; sister-in law, Suzanne Nicholas and husband, Nick, of Bentonville; nephews, Clinton Upperman and Mitchell Rowland; nieces, Molly Larison, Misty Lewis, Katy Bradford and Hannah Upperman. A visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at Stockdale-Moody Funeral Services in Rogers. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, at Village Baptist Church, 380 Glasgow Road in Bella Vista, Ark., with Dr. Bill Bowen officiating. Burial will follow in Bella Vista Cemetery. Memorials may be made in honor of Robert Upperman to the American Diabetes Association, 1660 Duke Street, Alexandria, VA 22314; or to Village Baptist Church Land Fund, 380 Glasgow Road, Bella Vista, AR 72715.
