Edward C. 'Chuck' Sernett

Edward C. "Chuck" Sernett, 91, of Bella Vista, Ark., passed away Dec. 24, 2012, at Northwest Medical Center in Bentonville, Ark. He was born Dec. 15, 1921, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Edward and Loretta Sernett. He graduated from high school in Mason City, Iowa, in 1940. He served in the Navy Air Corps from September 1942 to January 1946 and received several awards including the Distinguished Flying Cross. He graduated from the University of Iowa in 1947 with a bachelor of science commerce. He retired in January 1978 from the FBI in San Francisco, Calif. He moved to Bella Vista in January 1986. He was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and Former FBI Agents, VFW and NARFE. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Jean Sinnott; and brothers, Ray and Bill Sernett. He is survived by his wife, Deloris of Bella Vista; three daughters and husbands, Sandra Peterson and Thomas of Rolling Hills Estates, Calif., Ann Meuel and Peter of Walnut Creek, Calif., Catherine Burton and Michael of Vienna, Va.; one stepson, Kirk Tozer of Woodbridge, Va.; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and brother, Richard Sernett of Northbrook, Ill. A visitation at 9 a.m. and rosary at 9:30 a.m. with a Mass of Resurrection at 10 a.m. all on Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at St. Bernard Catholic Church, Bella Vista, Ark. Arrangements are by the Bella Vista Funeral Home & Crematory, 2258 Forest Hills Blvd., Bella Vista, Ark. The family suggest memorial contributions be made to the Bella Vista Library.
