Ronald Lee "Ron" Woollen, 65, of Huntsville, Ark., passed away peacefully on Dec. 19, 2012, in Fayetteville, Ark. He was born Feb. 12, 1947, in Berryville, Ark. He retired from the United States Navy with over 20 years of services and returned home to Huntsville where he worked for the Huntsville Public Schools. Retiring last year, he enjoyed time with family, friends and playing golf at Oakridge Golf Course, and attending church as a member of Presley Chapel United Methodist Church. Loving, compassionate and just an amazing giving spirit, Ron's life was a true testimony to a life lived that should inspire us all to be a better person, as he was an example of true dignity and humility with not just his words, but with his actions. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary A. Blevins Woollen on June 30, 2011. Ron is survived by his daughter, Robbin Awn of Huntsville, Ark.; his mother, Doreen Wallace of Huntsville, Ark.; two sisters, Debbie Bohannan and Pat Wusnak, both of Huntsville, Ark.; and three grandchildren, Cody Awn and Kacey Awn, both of Denver, Colo., and Cooper Corley of Huntsville, Ark. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, at the Presley Chapel United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Allen Crum officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Buddy Goudeau, Alvin Lievsay, Cody Mosier, Danny Edwards and Charlie Berry. Interment with Navy honors will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 24, at the Fayetteville National Cemetery. The family expresses their deepest gratitude to the Huntsville community and everyone during this time of transition.
