Joel Olin Leftwich Jr., 89, died peacefully in Austin on Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2012. Funeral: 11:30 a.m. Friday in Greenwood Funeral Home Chapel. Interment: 1 p.m. Saturday in Rosemound Cemetery, Waco. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Wounded Warriors Project, 877-837-6997. He was born in 1923 in Waco to Joel Olin Leftwich Sr. and Grace Sewell Leftwich. Graduating from Waco High School, he went on to Texas A&M University where he received a degree in industrial engineering. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1942-1946, married in 1947 and moved to Fort Worth where he raised his family and worked for General Dynamics for 32 years. He will be lovingly remembered for his quiet demeanor and quick wit, and will be missed by all. Survivors: loving wife of 65 years, Vivion; daughters and families, Linda Jenkins and husband, David, Lexanne Van Osdol and husband, Scott, all of Austin, and Gail Leftwich and husband, Joe Paul, of Fayetteville, Ark.; grandchildren, Kate Spears and husband, Bryce, Luke Jenkins and Joel Paul.
