Jean R. Simmonds

Jean Randall "J.R." Simmonds, born Oct. 1, 1926, went home to be with the Lord on Dec. 12, 2012, after a long and very brave battle with cancer. Jean was a longtime resident of Rogers and a distinguished member of the community; loved and respected by his family and many friends. Jean was also a retired military veteran who served his country with great pride and honor in WWII, Korea and three tours of duty in Vietnam. Jean was a member of the local VFW where he enjoyed the company of his fellow veterans. Jean was the father of two, Randy Lee Simmonds of Jacksonville, N.C., and Laura Jean Simmonds Jenney of St. Augustine, Fla.; and the stepfather of seven; a grandfather; and a great-grandfather. Jean was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Alice Simmonds. Memorial service will be held at later date. Jean Randall "J.R." Simmonds will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
