Martin Elliot Kaufman, 87, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2012, at Circle of Life Hospice House in Bentonville, Ark. He was born Jan. 13, 1925, in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of Etta Rosen and Jack J. Kaufman. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a teacher for many years. He had lived in the Northwest Arkansas area for over nine years after moving from Port Hueneme, Calif. He was a member of Unity Church of the Ozarks. He enjoyed reading, literature and writing. He was a member of DBSA and NTA. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Estelle Fisher and Marge Rosso. Martin is survived by his wife of 40 years, Judy Kaufman, whom he married Feb. 18, 1972; two sons, Robert Bruce Kaufman and his wife, Connie, of Canyon County, Calif., Dowe Wallace Kaufman of Martinsville, Ind.; two daughters, Sarah Beth Backus and her husband, John, of Newbury Park, Calif., Rachael Cindy Kaufman of Ventura, Calif.; and seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
