Vernon Henry McDaniel, 85, of Bentonville, Ark., died Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012, at his home. He was born on July 11, 1927, in Johnston, Neb., to George and Minnie McDaniel. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, returning a disabled veteran. He loved his family, camping, gardening, working with his hands and was a dedicated Husker football fan. He was a member of the Nebraska Club and St. Bernard Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Marilyn McDaniel; daughters, Pamela and Brenda; son, Patrick; grandchildren, Megan, Molly, Abby, Anna and Owen; brother, Arthur; and sister, Lois. Visitation will be from 2 to 6:30 p.m., with rosary service beginning at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012, at the Bella Vista Funeral Home Chapel, 2258 Forest Hills Blvd., Bella Vista, Ark. The family will be present for the majority of the visitation. A celebration presentation of Vernon's life will take place between 5 and 5:30 p.m. A mass of the resurrection will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 10, 2012, at St. Bernard Catholic Church, One St. Bernard Lane, Bella Vista, Ark.
