Burtis Lamar Davis, 50, of Fayetteville passed away Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012, in Fayetteville. He was born Jan. 28, 1962, in Portsmouth, Va., and grew up in Philadelphia, Pa., the son of Sebon and Nettie Lovelady Davis.

After moving to Fayetteville, Ark., he became a member of Saint James Missionary Baptist Church in Fayetteville, Ark. Lamar loved music and because of his musical gifts and talents, he played all over the United States. He shared his gifts unselfishly and played for different occasions such as gospel, community service and jazz events. His melodies and rhythms were sweet to the ear and precious to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

He leaves to cherish his memory a loving wife, Maude Davis; his mother, Nettie Davis of Yeadon, Pa.; stepmother, Eva Davis of Goose Creek, S.C.; his four children, Richard, Cody, Shelvis and Aisha, all of Fayetteville; two brothers, Eddie Davis of Phoenix, Ariz., and Talarico Davis of Goose Creek, S.C.; three sisters, Michelle Davis, Carly Davis and Sharon Jenkins, all of Pennsylvania; and two grandchildren, Camren and Shelvis of Arkansas.

His brother, Michael Davis, preceded him in death

Funeral services will be held at St. James Missionary Baptist Church, Fayetteville, Ark., at 10 a.m., Friday, Dec. 7, 2012. Senior Pastor Curtiss Smith will be officiating.

Visitation will be held at Beard's Funeral Chapel, Fayetteville, Ark., from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012.

A second service will be held at Lynch Chapel, United Methodist Church, Forest, Miss., at 2 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012.
