George A. Tullo, 86, of Bella Vista, Ark., went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012, at Heritage Park Nursing Home, Rogers, Ark. He was born to John and Mary Tullo on Nov. 13, 1926, in Riverside, Ontario, Canada. He immigrated to Detroit, Mich., and became an American citizen in 1943. He attended Wilber Wright High School and Michigan State University. He served in the South Pacific as an Army sergeant during World War II. He married Mary Charlene Woodard on June 12, 1948. He retired as a lieutenant after 34 years of service with the Harper Woods Police Department. He also had his own carpet installation company for many years. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, the Old Police Officers, the Bentonville-Rogers Elks Lodge, V.F.W., Community Church and several golf groups. He enjoyed crossword puzzles, travel, golf, dancing, singing and bowling. He was preceded in death by his first wife Mary and an infant daughter, Sharon. He is survived by his wife Karon Tullo; a sister, Margaret Guertler of Welmar Nursing Home, Shelby Township, Mich.; a nephew, David Reed and his wife Corky, of Shelby Township, Mich.; two stepchildren, Brian Shaw, of Bella Vista, Ark., and Katherine Gumm, of Ottawa, Kan.; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews, and other extended family. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012, at the Bella Vista Community Church, 75 East Lancashire Blvd., Bella Vista, Ark. Arrangements are by the Bella Vista Funeral Home & Crematory, 2258 Forest Hills Blvd., Bella Vista, Ark.
