Verda Mae Turner

Verda Mae Turner, 90, of Hindsville, Ark., died Aug. 30, 2012, at the Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville, Ark. She was born Aug. 3, 1922, at Whitener, Ark., the daughter of Robert and Alpha Boyd Ledbetter. She was a public school teacher in Washington and Madison counties for many years and a member of the Peace Valley Church of Christ. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, company and her grandchildren. She was the widow of Herman Lee Turner, who preceded her in death on July 19, 2010. She was also preceded in death by one son, Robert Turner, one sister, Jeanie Sloan, two nephews, Jay Ledbetter and Stanley Ledbetter and one niece, Nancy Sloan. Survivors include: two daughters and one son-in-law, Nita Wright of Hindsville, Arkansas and Rita and Stanley Jones of Springdale, Arkansas; two brothers, Jerry Ledbetter of Oklahoma and Jimmy Ledbetter of Springdale, Arkansas; one sister, Virgie Guthrie of Escondido, Calfornia; two grandsons and granddaughters-in-law, Donnie and Mary Walker and Bradley and Theresa Walker; four great-grandsons, Chris Walker, Cody Meek, Brandon Walker and Mark Scott; two great-granddaughters, Jessie Hauser and Dawnay Smith; five great-great-grandsons, Brad Walker, Braden Walker, Eli Meek, Colt Hauser and Matthew Scott; and five great-great-granddaughters, Natalea Hauser, Kennedy Smith, Sydney Walker, Lexie Walker and Leah Scott. Graveside services will be held at 4:00 P. M. Saturday, September 1, at the Farmington Cemetery with The Reverend C. H. Doss officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Brashears Funeral Home www.brashearsfuneralhome.net of Huntsville, Arkansas. Pallbearers will be: Chris Walker, Brandon Walker, Donnie Walker, Brad Walker, Stanley Jones and Mark Scott. Honorary pallbearers will be: Jim Ledbetter, Jay Ledbetter, Benny Smith, Cody Meek and Warren Hauser.
