Winston M. Carter

Winston M. Carter of Bella Vista, Ark., died Monday, July 30, 2012, at Highland Health and Rehab in Bella Vista. He was born in Jasper, Mo., to John M. Carter and Myrtie (Mackey) Carter. He was a Ford/Mercury dealer in Carthage, Mo., for 25 years. He was a charter member of the Bella Vista Christian Church, having served as elder, deacon, chairman of the church board and treasurer. He was also an active member of Gideons, Lions Club, Bella Vista Street Committee, Village Pride Committee, director and charter member of Bella Vista Meals on Wheels, past director of Helping Hands, past director/ president of the Townhouse Association and Crime Watch in Northeast Area. In 1999, he was awarded the Village Pride Award. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret Carter, wife of 52 years, who died in October 1992. He is survived by his wife, Jackie Hubbell Carter of Bella Vista, Ark.; one son, Pastor Ron Carter of Bella Vista Christian Church and daughter-in-law, Pam Carter; stepdaughter, Nancy Dallison and stepson-in-law, Dr. Noble Dallsion; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren. A private graveside service was held at Park Cemetery in Carthage, Mo., on Aug. 3. A service to celebrate Winston's life will be held at the Bella Vista Christian Church this Saturday, Aug. 25, 2012, at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Bella Vista Christian Church, Building Fund, 103 Riordan Road, Bella Vista, AR 72714.
