Phyllis I. Knox

Phyllis I. Knox, 80, of Bella Vista passed away on Monday morning, Aug. 20, 2012, at Mercy Hospital. Phyllis had been a resident of Bella Vista for nine years. Phyllis was born on Nov. 28, 1931, to Nels O. Westberg and Irene Minnie Lillistrom in Milwaukee, Wis. She married John Sillman in March 20, 1952. She remarried Frederick Knox on March 21, 1982. She graduated from the Kahler Nursing School in Rochester, Minn., in 1953. She worked in nursing for many years until she retired in 1990. Gardening and raising orchids was one of her favorite activities, winning many ribbons for her orchids. She traveled to many places around the world and was a hiker and downhill skier. Reading several books each week was her way to relax. "The Discover," "Scientific American" and the "Economist" magazines were her way to expand her knowledge of the universe and the world. Playing bridge each week with her friends was one of her many social activities. Phyllis' son, Bradley Sillman, and daughters, Barbara Leonard, Caren Nicholson and Amy Crews, live in Minnesota. She has 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. There are two surviving sisters, Donna Weestrand of Rochester, Minn., and Judy Nelson of Deerwood, Minn. Her two brothers, Russell and Gary, predeceased Phyllis. Husband Frederick will miss his 30-year partner. Services will be held at the Highland United Methodist Church at 10 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 24, 2012. Online condolences may be made to www.funeralmation.com.
