Loy Van Every

Loy Van Every died at the Bradford House in Bentonville, Ark., on Aug. 18, 2012. He was born in Rupert, Idaho, on Feb. 20, 1918, oldest of six sons born to Burt James Van Every and Pearl Sylvester (Witherspoon) Van Every. He attended schools in Michigan, Oregon and Idaho. He grew up on farms in Idaho, and after marrying Eunice Ruth Wardlaw on Nov. 8, 1941, he and his wife farmed in Missouri and Idaho until 1956. He then worked for the Bureau of Reclamation as an assistant water master on the Veterans Homestead Project North of Rupert until 1965, when he and his wife moved to Rogers, Ark. In Rogers, he worked for Hoyt Manufacturing until his retirement in 1980. He and his wife were charter members of the Rogers Christian Church, founded in 1975. He was preceded in death by his brother, Norvel, killed in action in World War II in 1944; his parents; his brother, Glen in 1991; and his wife, Ruth in 2001; and his brother, Leo in 2011. Survivors include his son, Jack and his wife, Sharon, of Norman, Okla.; two brothers, Bill Van Every and his wife, Anna Mae, of Murrieta, Calif., and Ernest Van Every and his wife, Roberta, of Rupert, Idaho; 80-plus nieces and nephews, great-nieces and -nephews and great-great-nieces and -nephews; as well as many other relatives and friends. Viewing will be at the Rollins Funeral Home from 1 to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2012, with a graveside service at the Wardlaw Cemetery in Brightwater at 2:30 p.m., with Jack Galbraith and George Panter officiating. Donations can be made in her honor to the Rogers Christian Church.
