James Anthony Marinoni

James Anthony Marinoni, age 58, of Fayetteville died on Tuesday, July 31, 2012, at the VA Hospital in Fayetteville. He was born on Jan. 26, 1954, and was a disabled U.S. Army veteran. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Albert Marinoni Sr. and Mary Margaret (O'Connor) Marinoni, both of Fayetteville. He is survived by his seven siblings, Paul Albert Marinoni Jr. and his wife, Suzie, John Patrick Marinoni and his wife, Betty, Rosa Linda Robinson, Marla Ann and her husband, Steve Blake, Paula Marie Marinoni and her husband, Matt Lawrence, all of Fayetteville, Mary Sue and her husband, Glenn Shaw of Stewartstown, Pa., and Amy Jean and her husband, Rich Frank, of Phoenix, Ariz. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and extended family. His brothers, Paul and John, will be honorary pallbearers. James was a star athlete in his younger years, setting many state records in football and track and field, and also excelling in basketball and baseball. Father John K. Antony will officiate at the funeral mass to be held Wednesday, Aug. 22, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1722 N. Starr Road in Fayetteville. The mass will be preceded by the rosary at 9 a.m. Interment will follow at the National Cemetery at 11 a.m. under the direction of Moore's Chapel Funeral Home. The family would like to thank the VA Hospital and staff for the dedication, skill and compassion shown to James over the years and especially in his final months of life. In lieu of flowers, the family would ask for prayers to be offered for all our military and especially our disabled veterans and those injured, missing or killed in the defense and service of our beautiful country.
