Harriet Ann Vernon

Harriet Ann Vanstone Vernon, 96, of Fayetteville passed away Friday, Aug. 17, 2012, in Fayetteville. She was born Nov. 30, 1915, in Bridgeport, Conn., the daughter of Harold and Marion Morrill Vanstone. She was a member of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Fayetteville and was active in League of Women Voters and NOW. She had her master's degree in library science from the University of Michigan and had a career as librarian at the University of Arkansas. Preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Thomas Vernon. Survivors include two daughters, Dorothy Vernon Crookshank of Eureka Springs, Ark., and Virginia Lipson and husband, Howard, of Bolder, Colo.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was a loving, thoughtful and wonderful person and will be missed so very much by her two daughters. Reception in her memory will be from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 19, 2012, at the Convocation Room at Butterfield Trail Village, 1923 E. Joyce Blvd., Fayetteville, AR 72703.
