Joy Duncan

Joy Duncan slipped peacefully away Aug. 15, 2012, at Washington Regional Medical Center. She was born April 29, 1964, in Aberdeen, Scotland, to John and Pat Duncan. Joy was profoundly mentally retarded and also had some physical disabilities. She needed, and received, constant care and attention all through her life. In 1984, she moved with her family from Stirling, Scotland, to Fayetteville. Joy's engaging sense of humor endeared her to many, and she had a remarkable memory for faces. Joy was a special gift from God and is now returned to Him. She is survived by her parents, John and Pat; siblings, Peter, Andrew and Gillian; several relatives in Aberdeen, Scotland, and many friends in Northwest Arkansas, notably at Open Avenues in Rogers. Private family services will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Open Avenues, 2202 N. 24th Street, Rogers, Ark. To sign the online guestbook, please visit www.nelsonberna.com. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Nelson-Berna Funeral Home and Crematory of Fayetteville.
