Johnnie Ralph Chaffin, 82, of Springdale, died Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2012, at Northwest Medical Center in Springdale. He was born Aug. 2, 1930, in Bunch, Okla., to Fred and Orphie Breedin Chaffin. Johnnie served in the U.S. Army for eight years. He served during the Korean conflict, where he served in the 3rd Armored Artillery Division and he operated the 155 guns. He was a security guard. Johnnie loved watching TV, his favorite show was "M*A*S*H." He cherished his church, Westside Freewill Baptist Church, where he loved Sunday School. He treasured the fellowship of his friends. He enjoyed storytelling, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Minnie Frederick Chaffin, of the home, to whom he was married Sept. 13, 1952; two sons, Ronnie Paden and wife, Audrey, of West Fork, and Johnny Wayne Chaffin and wife, Eva, of Springdale; three daughters, Joyal Humbert and husband, Roger, Debbie Sams and husband, David, and Donna Sams and husband, Hoyt, all of Limestone; 20 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren. Funeral services are Friday, Aug. 10, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Sisco Funeral Chapel of Springdale, with the Rev. Paul Payne officiating. Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery.
