Philip L. 'Pete' Peterson

Philip L. "Pete" Peterson, age 73, of Rogers, died Aug. 6, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center in Rogers. He was born in Longmont, Colo., on April 22, 1939, to the late Lawrence and Linna (Parkinson) Peterson. Pete served his country in the U.S. Air Force to "see the world" — but was assigned to be stationed in Blytheville, Ark. Fortunately, that is where he met Vergie Reeves, who would become his wife. He worked for Southwestern Bell as an engineer in numerous locations, including St. Louis, Little Rock, Denver and New Jersey. Later, he worked in telecommunications with Focus on the Family. Survivors include his wife, Vergie Peterson of the home; children, Sharon Ward and husband, Allen, of Murray, Ky., Susan Rowe and husband, Jaret, of Tuttle, Okla., Philip Peterson of Colorado Springs, Colo.; siblings, Clarence Peterson and wife, Omaha, of Rogers, John Peterson of Grants Pass, Ore., Carole Cahill of Arcata, Calif.; grandchildren, Nathan and Nicole Ward, Madison, Owen and Kaelynn Rowe; and numerous other relatives. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 10, 2012, at Immanuel Baptist Church in Rogers, officiated by Dr. Tom Hatley. Memorials, in lieu of flowers, should be made to Focus on the Family, Colorado Springs, CO 80995; or Gideon's International, P.O. Box 140800, Nashville, TN 37214. Cremation arrangements are by Rollins Funeral Home of Rogers.
