Chandler Lee 'Bub' Gunter

Chandler Lee "Bub" Gunter, 79, of Siloam Springs, Ark., died Aug. 5, 2012, at his Willard Walker Hospice Home, Fayetteville, Ark. Born Feb. 18, 1933, in Delaware County, Okla., he was the son of Porter Gunter and Christina Chandler Gunter. He was a graduate of Siloam Springs High School and graduated from the University of Arkansas with a master's degree in counseling. Bub married Sammye Lou Hall on Sept. 1, 1951. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a high school guidance counselor for many years at Siloam Springs High School. He raised cattle and was broker, and owner/operator for Gunter Century 21 Realty of Siloam Springs. Bub was a past president of the Oil Capital Beagle Club and judged for 25 years. He was the 2011 Pioneer Citizen of Siloam Springs. He was a member of Key Lodge #7, F&AM of Siloam Springs and was also a member of the First United Methodist Church, Siloam Springs. Bub was the 2011 Pioneer Citizen of Siloam Springs. He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Elizabeth Ann Gunter. Survivors include his wife, Sammy Lou, of the home; one son, Caldeen Gunter V and wife, Vada, of Siloam Springs; one grandson, Caldeen Gunter VI and wife, Angela, of Siloam Springs; one step-grandson, Mack Chandler of Springfield, Mo.; one great-grandson, Caldeen VII of Siloam Springs; and one sister, Barbara Ziegler and husband, Dan, of Broken Arrow, Okla. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 10, 2012, at First Baptist Church, Siloam Springs, with Dr. Randy Rowlan officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, Siloam Springs. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 9, 2012, at the First United Methodist Church, Siloam Springs. Memorial contributions may be made the First United Methodist Church, 325 E.
