Sidney "Sid" Charles Hoffman, 97, of Rogers, Ark., died Monday, July 30, 2012, at his daughter's home. He was born May 2, 1915, in Tremont, Ill., the son of the late George and Leah (Suchert) Hoffman. He married his childhood sweetheart, Betty Schaefer, in Tremont. Betty died a few weeks after their 60-year wedding anniversary in July 2000. Together they had three daughters. He was employed by Fisher Controls Intl. (now Emerson) for 21 years and retired as manager of finance. He enjoyed boating, golf and watching the stock market. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in downtown Rogers, Ark. He was a founding member of the Colorado Springs Argonauts. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Hoffman; one daughter, Jeanette Bloom; his parents; and one sister, Virginia Gardner. Sidney is survived by two daughters, Judy Cowan and her husband, Bob, of Rogers, Ark., and Joy Harned and her husband, Dr. Gerald, of Estero, Fla.; son-in-law, Dr. Gary Bloom of Colorado Springs, Colo.; eight grandchildren, Christina Bloom, Michelle Bloom, Michael Bloom and his wife, Heather, all of Colorado, Susan Gage of Springdale, Ark., Margaret "Molly" Cook and her husband, Jeff, of Rogers, Ark., Nicholas Harned and his wife, Sandra, and Allison Harned and her fiance, Brian Hannan, all of Chicago, Ill., and Benjamin Harned and his wife, Christine, of Port Washington, Wis.; and seven great-grandchildren, Margaret "Maggie" Cook, Jackson Harned, Charlie and Natalie Joy "Tilly" Harned, and Branden, Ryan and Jacob Bloom. Jacob was born on Sid's birthday. He is also survived by one sister, Joyce Naffziger of Tremont, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews and extended family. Funeral service will be Friday, Aug. 3, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Davis Mortuary in Tremont, Ill., with the Rev. Sandra Wanasek officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery in Tremont, Ill. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Circle of Life Hospice, 901 Jones Road, Springdale, AR 72762.
