Clarice Erma (Taylor) Faubus was born Nov. 23, 1915, on a farm on Whorton Creek, Madison County, Ark., the daughter of Isaac and Minnie (Burke) Taylor. She confidently departed this earthly realm on July 30, 2012, to be with God and her departed loved ones; she was 96 years old. Clarice married Bobby Eugene Faubus on July 24, 1937, in Combs, Ark.; they enjoyed 53 happy years together before he went to be with the Lord. She unconditionally loved her four children, six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She graduated from Huntsville State Vocational School in 1934 and from Arkansas Tech in 1937, where she was a cheerleader and earned a degree in education. She taught grades 5-8 in one-room schools in Delaney and Cannon Creek, Ark., for two years before dedicating her life to raising her family. She lived in Elkins, Ark., for 62 years and was a faithful member of the Church of Christ. She spent the last two years of her life at The Maples in Springdale. She was cherished by her sons, Jimmy Alan Faubus and wife, Jacque, of Elkins and Ikey Robin Faubus of Springdale; and her daughters, Judy Fae Ziehr and husband, Charles, of Tahlequah, Okla., and Betty June Taylor and husband, Daymon, of Rogers. She was adored by her grandchildren, Gary Faubus and wife, Misty, Saundra Evans and husband, Rick, Holly Perry and husband, Greg, Rocky Ziehr and wife, Shanon, Dana Washburn and husband, Colon, and Aimee Hobson and husband, Danny. She had a special, loving relationship with her 13 great-grandchildren, Brandon and Patrick Faubus, Allison, Jacob and Jeremy Evans, Zachary and Mallory Perry, Maegan Washburn, Caleb, Tyler and Blake Anderson, Alyssa Majka and Brock Ziehr. She rejoiced in the addition to the family of her great-great-granddaughter, Khloe Faubus. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; four brothers, Arthur, Harold, Fae and Eugene Taylor; two sisters, Vera Dotson and Josephine Jewell; grandson, Rocky Ziehr; and great-grandson, Patrick Faubus. She is survived by two brothers, Norman and Loren Lee Taylor; and one sister, Geraldine Goyne; her four children, five grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter, many nieces and nephews and a host of other family members and friends. Clarice was an amazing woman who loved her family deeply and helped instill faith, caring and compassion in four generations, all of which was so evident in those who surrounded and supported her in her later years. She was always positive and seldom complained about anything. The family wishes to express its sincere thanks to the staff at The Maples for compassionate, professional and personal care and to the staff at Circle of Life Hospice who made her final days comfortable. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 2, at Moore's Chapel Funeral Home in Fayetteville, and the funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 3, at the Church of Christ in Elkins, officiated by Bro. Lacy Randall. Pallbearers will be seven of her great-grandsons, Jacob and Jeremy Evans, Zachary Perry, Caleb, Tyler and Blake Anderson, and Brock Ziehr. Burial will be at McCord Cemetery between Elkins and Durham. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a memorial gift to your favorite charity, especially those that directly benefit children.
